Disney Gave Me Unrealistic Expectations About Love

For work I went with my Boss and his two girls to Disney on ice. I didn't know what to expect because it was my first time. But it was interesting as Bell skating on to the ice and everyone cheered. I felt something, still undefined at the moment.
The crowd roared. They loved her. But they loved her more when the beast was transformed into the long hair charming prince that he was. The camera came out in all their flashing glory. Anytime Disney couples were romantically posed, it was photo after photo after photo. And I know the operator of those camera were not 10 year old giddy girls falling for these situations.

A thought occurred and remained, because I knew it was the mothers and women in the crowd taking pictures. My camera did not capture this experience.

Disney Gave Me Unrealistic Expectations About Love

For the young of heart who believe that:

Glass slippers and pumpkin carriages are comfortable,

Swapping your voice and family for a pair of legs is a good deal,

Love transforms haughty beasts into Princes,

Pretty girls fall for hunchbacks,

Princesses fall for street urchins,

Kissing a sleeping Princess with 100 years of morning breath is pleasant,

All boys grow up, stop fighting pirates, and fall in love,

Gods give up their hard earned immortality for commoners,

And that falling in love with an explorer does not risk a nasty smallpox infection.

However I am still a believer.

Me, too. I think there's a smidge of Disney hero or heroine in everyone. : )

i am, unfortunately, still under the impression that all those things are true. though logically i know life is not that way, my heart still believes it.

Shh- don't tell anyone but I've got a thing for the beast! I think he's ugly as a prince! (the animal raarr! in me I guess!) I'm glad life's not like a disney fairytale. I love the ups and downs and the ugly stuff in between- that's how we grow. ALTHOUGH I'd love to have the Geenie from Alladin around....just for the mere entertainment though! ;)

You are too much, I'll have to tell you about my fairy tale my Uncle told me. It is so neat and I really need to share it on my blog! In short we (girls) need to trust the right prince will find our slipper and it will fit, we may try on a few glass slippers, and we could make it work, but there is only one that fits! Cute huh!

I have felt the same way. I love the girly movies but still.... I expected my fiance to come riding in on a white horse and save me! :) So I have two blogs... the one you have and my other one. you can link to it from the page you have. It is not much now but.. you know. Just thought I would let you know. :)

Oh lady! The hot girl doesn't fall for the hunchback. She loves him as a friend and goes with the hot guy. that is realistic. Plus if you think about it there are very few disney movies with two parents. It's mostly a one parent home. But I still love them. I don't know about you but my husband fell in love with me as soon as he heard me singing. ha ha ha

So true....we should have a movie night and only watch movies that don't have anything to do with love, then after we can all sleep under my table. Be excited :)
